Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is easily accessible from major international hubs and offers convenient transportation options for visitors. Below you will find practical information to help you plan your journey to the city and move around during your stay.
Arriving in Vilnius by air
Vilnius International Airport (VNO) is the main airport serving the city. It is located only about 6 km from the city centre.
For participants travelling from outside Europe, there are currently no direct long-haul flights to Vilnius. Most travellers will arrive via one connection through major European hubs such as:
- Frankfurt
- Istanbul
- Amsterdam
- Helsinki
- Warsaw
- Vienna
From these hubs, Vilnius is usually reachable within 1–2 additional hours of flight time.
After arrival, the city centre can be reached in approximately 15–20 minutes.
From the Airport to the City Centre
Public Transport

Train
A short shuttle train runs between the airport and Vilnius Central Railway Station.

- The railway station is within walking distance of the Old Town
Taxi and Ride-hailing
Official taxis are available outside the terminal. Ride-hailing services such as Bolt and Uber are also widely used.
